Frequently asked questions

How much does counselling cost and how do I pay?

Each 50 minute session is charged at £45. Payment is usually made by BACS bank transfer at least 24 hours in advance of each session.

How long will I need counselling for?

The answer to this is very individual. For some, a short term set of six sessions is enough. Others find they need longer term counselling, spanning several months or longer. We can talk about what your expectations are around this and we'll regularly review how you are finding things / how long you might want to continue for.

What does person-centred counselling involve?

As a person-centred counsellor, I'll value and accept you as a person, I'll listen to understand what life is like for you and I won't hold judgements about you. Sessions will be led by what you want to talk about. I won't tell you what to do or what I think about things. Instead I'll help you to come to your own decisions, and to trust your own thoughts and beliefs.

How does online counselling work?

As well as in-person sessions in Gillingham, I can offer remote counselling via either video or phone call. Online counselling is usually using Google Meet, or we can use WhatsApp if you prefer. For phone sessions, I will call you.

Do I arrange a regular day/time or can I book week by week?

You can do either. Some people prefer to know they have the same day and time each week. Others may need to be more flexible, depending on other commitments, in which case we can book in week by week.

Can I have an evening session?

Yes, I offer daytime and evening sessions. Currently I am able to offer later evening appointments on a Wednesday and Thursday.
