Counselling with Laura

Hi, I'm Laura Bradley, a qualified counsellor. I can give you a calm and supportive environment to talk about the things that aren't giving you peace right now. Together, we'll make sense of your feelings.

My experience includes working with people who are visually impaired, people who are neurodivergent and people with long-term health conditions. I also have personal experience of supporting a close family member through cancer. You may be facing something similar to these things, or simply looking to speak to someone who will be non-judgemental and understanding of who you are and any needs you may have.

I work with adults, offering face-to-face therapy in Gillingham / Rainham (ME8), or by phone / video call for anyone in the UK. Daytime and evening counselling sessions are available.

Will counselling help me?

You may be thinking about counselling if you:

  • Feel anxious a lot of the time

  • Feel low or depressed

  • Can't make sense of your emotions

  • Don't feel yourself

  • Are struggling to accept a big change in your life

  • Are thinking of making a change but finding it hard to trust your own decision-making

  • Have been through a trauma (recent or historic)

  • Want someone to listen, without giving their own opinions

Talking therapy can help you explore the things affecting your mental health. You may not know where to start, but we can figure that out together. And therapy doesn't always have to mean talking. If you're finding it hard to put into words how you feel, we can find some creative ways to help move things forward.

What's counselling like?

Before we start our counselling sessions, we'll have a free consultation call. This will be a chance for you to decide if you want to go ahead. It'll also allow me to assess how I might work with you going forward.

If you decide to go ahead, we'll agree a contract, which will outline how we'll work together. We'll also talk about your goals and how long you're hoping to have sessions for. You may feel that a short set of around six sessions is enough to work on your specific goal. Or you may be looking to explore more in-depth and therefore want something longer-term.

The sessions themselves will be very much led by you and what you want to talk about. I might ask questions or make reflections to help you explore something further. I might help you practice techniques to help manage anxiety. You may sometimes find it challenging - we'll work together to figure out if you're ready to face that challenge or if you need some more time to get there. I'll never make you go somewhere you don't want to go.

How much does counselling cost?

Each 50 minute session costs £50.

I generally recommend weekly sessions, but can also accommodate fortnightly if that suits you better.

My location

If you would like counselling in-person, my practice is easily accessible from the Medway Towns (Gillingham, Rainham, Chatham, Rochester, Strood) and surrounding areas (Sittingbourne, Bredhurst, Boxley, Maidstone). I work from the Kent Wellbeing Hub, Farthing Corner at the Medway services, Gillingham (M2 London-bound, next to the Travelodge). There's free parking and it's around a 10-15 minute walk from the nearest bus stop in Parkwood.

I also offer counselling sessions by video or phone call.
